Get the look: Nicole's glossy nude lips

THE LOOK "This look is so fresh and works well with eyes that are played up," says makeup artist Mandy Jacobellis. To get Nicole Richie's pretty pout, Jacobellis recommends lining the lips then filling them in with a neutral lip liner and topping with a gloss. She loves Julie Hewett's liner in 009 and Lucy B gloss in Coconut Kiss or Freeze 24/7 plumping gloss in Arctic Glaze—"for thinner lips."
INSIDER TIP: To line the lips, Jacobellis says, "Start by tracing the cupid's bow and then line from the corner of the lips up to the bow and repeat on the bottom, lining the middle of the bottom lip and then drawing into the center from the corners —this ensures an even lip. Then fill in the entire lip—this acts as a base for the gloss and gives a little color."

Get the look

Nicole Richie: MAC Liquid Liner ($16.50) in Boot Black, MAC Eye Shadow ($14.50) in Carbon, MAC 266 Small Angle Brush ($19.50), Shu Uemura Mini Eyelash Curler ($17), Maybelline Great Lash Mascara ($5) in Very Black.
We'll close today's Celebrity Picks story with a liner lesson from the queen of cat-eyes herself: the one and only Nicole Richie. When it comes to artfully executed eyeliner, Richie's simply the best, and, as you'd expect from an expert, she has a detailed list of products and a step-by-step process, which she kindly disclosed for our readers' edification. She starts by applying MAC Liquid Eye Liner ($16.50) in Boot Black along her lash line. Then, after the liner dries, she then emphasizes her handiwork, using a small slanted brush and black eye shadow, specifically MAC's 266 Small Angle Brush ($19.50) and Eye Shadow ($14.50) in Carbon. Next, Richie curls her lashes with shu uemura's Mini Eyelash Curler ($17). She recommends heating the tool with a quick shot of hot air from a hair dryer first, as this will ensure your lashes stay curled. The final touch is a few coats of Maybelline Great Lash Mascara ($5) in Very Black and voila! Perfection, the Richie way.

Get the Look: Nicole Richie in Harper's Bazaar Magazine

We know many of you beauty addicts out there have been eagerly awaiting "Get the Look" details on Nicole Richie's beautiful cover for June's Harper's Bazaar Magazine - well, you won't need to wait any longer because today we have all 411 info for you straight from makeup master Mr. Paul Starr!
The June issue was an exciting one: we got a glimpse of Nicole and her growing family with baby Harlow gracing the magazine's glossy pages for the first time. Nicole looks relaxed, glowing and completely lovely on the cover of the fashion mag. We love her plum and deep chocolate lined eyes and soft peachy-pink pout. We had to hear from our friend Paul how he created this summer look - so we can all look as luminous as Nicole does here. Read on for the how-to details on Nicole's look from Paul Starr:

SKIN:
Paul prepared Nicole's (already flawless) skin with a light mist from Jurlique called Jurlique Lavender Hydrating Mist (formally known as Lavender Floral Water). Paul tells us that La Mer: The Mist will always be a staple in his cosmetic kit, but the Hydrating Mist from Jurlique is his new summer fave. Its "a replenishing mist, rich in the living energy of lavender and marshmallow to hydrate, tone and soothe. Leaves the skin refreshed. Ideal for rebalancing dryness." Paul also recommends, Shu Uemura Depsea Water Facial Mist which also provides helps to provide hydration to the skin and comes in a number of fragrances including: Hamemelis, Chamomile, Bergamot, Mint, Sage, Rose, Lavender, Rosemary, and Fragrance Free.
Next, Paul applied Chanel Teint Innocence Naturally Luminous Fluid Makeup SPF 12 in Soft Honey to Nicole's skin with his makeup sponge. Paul loves this Chanel foundation because it is so light it is almost like a tinted moisturizer - it keeps the skin soft and natural with perfect flawless coverage.

EYES:
Paul lined Nicole's upper eyelid with a deep-chocolate shadow and along her lower lash line he used a rich plum color with a gold shimmer underneath - all shadows from Chanel's Irreelle Duo Silky Eyeshadow Duo compacts.
Paul added black mascara to Nicole's upper eyelashes and a plum-colored mascara on her bottom lashes.

BROWS:
Paul used his absolute favorite Le Sourcil De Chanel Perfect Brows Compact to perfect and shape Richie's brows. Eveyone needs to purchase this brow compact, Paul explains to us. Chanel discontinued the compact and then brought it back by popular demand. Paul says it really is the perfect brow necessity because it includes light, medium and dark shades that can mixed and blended together to match your coloring exactly.

CHEEKS:
Paul added Stila Convertible Color in Gerbera to the apples of Nicole's cheeks. "The non-greasy, creamy, sheer tint adds an inherent glow to the cheeks." He then added a touch of NARS The Multiple in a golden shade to create a dash of highlight on the nose and the tops of the cheek bone. "It's unique, creamy formula blends effortlessly to provide sheer color for creating shimmering accents, contours or dynamic highlights on all skin tones."

LIPS:
Paul lightly lined Nicole's lips with Make Up For Ever Aqua Lip Waterproof Lipliner Pencil in Nude Beige 1C (a light neutral beige) and then added Chanel's NEW Aqualumiere Gloss in Glass Quartz on top to finish off the look.

Get the look

This month, UK’s Marie Claire, published “The LA Issue” giving the Brits an inside glimpse of LA life. They covered Hollywood glamour and local style as well as the ins-and-outs on where to shop, eat, relax, and of course party. One of the towns most talked about residents, Nicole Richie, graces the cover and dishes about her infamous “Hollywood hellraising”. Her cover look is sweet yet sassy, with dark smoky eyes, and soft pinkish lips.

We called up renowned makeup artist, and WeLoveBeauty Stylemaker, Paul Starr, to get the step-by-step on the signature look he so famously created for her. Here’s how the day went:

THE PREP:
“As Andy was doing her hair, I prepped Nicole’s skin.” Paul said. He started by spritzing her face with Jurlique Lavender Floral Water and then used the Antioxidant Firming Face Serum by Md. Skincare, “Love it.” He then used Peter Thomas Roth, Power K Eye Rescue around her eyes, “I let it all sink in to her skin while Andy focused on her hair.”

THE FACE:
To apply her makeup Paul used an Evian spritzer on his sponge and then applied a little concealer just where she needed it, “which wasn’t much.” He uses a concealer palette by Kryolan. “They are hard to find, but if you can, they are the best.” Paul then applied Chanel’s Teint Innocence Luminous Fluid Makeup in “Naturel” all over her face.

THE BROWS:
Paul groomed her brows and then defined them using Chanel Sourcil Duo Professionnel – Professional Brow Duo.
THE EYES:
To create Nicole’s signature smoky eyes, Paul lined the upper and inner eye using Bobby Brown Long-Wear Gel Liner in “Black ”, “my favorite gel liner.” Then he took the “Black Moon” eyeliner pencil by NARS and lined the top of the lash line “pretty thick,” and then smudged it with a brush. Using a Chanel eyeshadow palette, Starr used, “a grey smoke shade all over the liner and blended it with a q-tip, smudging it all along the lash line.”

THE LASHES:
Before applying mascara, Paul curled her lashes with, “my favorite metal eyelash curler,” by Japonesque. He then gave her “LOTS of coats of mascara.” Using Chanel Inimitable black mascara, he layered her lashes with 3 or 4 coats to give her really thick, beautiful lashes.

THE CHEEKS:
To create a soft glow on Nicole’s cheek, Paul used NARS Creme Blush in “Penny Lane” all over her cheeks. Wanting to add a bit of intensity just on the apples of her cheeks, he then applied Kevin Aucoin Pure Powder Glow in “Shadore” (soft pink). Finally, “as a highlighter right on her cheek bone Paul used just a touch of Chanel Brilliance Pur in “sunkissed” (the most pale color), He also applied this to her brow bone. He explained, “You can see that it picks up the light and gives her skin that beautiful dewy look.”

THE LIPS:
To offset her eyes, Paul went with a subtle lip color, choosing Shu Uemura Beige 951 from their Rouge Unlimited collection. It is a beige with a pink undertone to it. “Typically I don’t choose pink for Nicole,” said Paul, “but in this case it looks really pretty on her.” To give the color a bit more pink and a sheer quality, he finished the look with a small amount of MAC Tinted Lip Conditioner in “Petting Pink”.
