WHY WE LOVE IT Nicole Richie's colorist, George Papanikolas, confessed that his client's new shade wasn't exactly an overnight impulse. "We have gradually been going darker over the last few months—from blonde, to dark ash blonde, then brown with golden tips and finally this rich sable brown," he says. The benefit of taking it slow (besides not frying your strands)? "We did this gradual transition so we could play with different looks," says Papanikolas.

Nicole Richie was spotted leaving XIV Karats jewelry store in Beverly Hills, casually sipping on a hot beverage from Starbucks, on December 21.
She looked cute rocking her signature oversized sunglasses and a cozy scarf around her neck.
Nicole twitted:
"I went to 14 Karats today and put some things aside that I love. if your'e in the mood to spend thousands of dollars on me"

Nicole Richie paid a weekend visit to Andy Lecompte salon in West Hollywood on Saturday, December 19.
She chose a comfortable outfit, rocking her favourite skinny jeans from Jet and Lanvin flats.
Miss Richie accented the look with a turquoise Balenciaga "Work" bag, a leopard print lightweight scarf and Thierry Lasry "Velvety" sunglasses.
